The honest answer first: there is no list of tags that works for every channel, and copying a generic "top YouTube tags" list does almost nothing. Vlogs

Vlogs are the hardest case for tags, because the topic is often "me". Channel name and location carry most of the weight.

Model numbers are the single most valuable tag type in this niche — people search them exactly, and get them wrong constantly.

Cooking and recipes

Build your own list in five minutes

This beats any copied list, and it isn't hard:

1. Write your exact topic as a person would search it. That's tag one.
2. Add two or three variants. Singular/plural, abbreviation, the full name if you used the short one.
3. Add the misspellings. This is the one job tags are genuinely good at. If your topic contains a name people mistype — a product, a place, a person — include the wrong spellings. Nobody else does, and search still needs to match them.
4. Add one or two broader category tags. One level up, not five. espresso for a moka pot video, not coffee and certainly not food.
5. Stop at five to eight. There's a 500-character limit; filling it is not a strategy.

To see the vocabulary a niche actually uses, read the tags on videos already ranking for your target phrase. Not to copy them — copying a large channel's tags gives you their vocabulary without their audience — but to spot terms you hadn't thought of.

How many tags should you use?

Five to eight relevant ones. The technical ceiling is 500 characters total, and a common piece of bad advice is to fill it.
