What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the site owners.
How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for the following purposes:
- Essential Cookies: Some cookies are necessary for the technical operation of our website.
- Analytics Cookies: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. Analytics runs with IP anonymisation enabled.
- Advertising Cookies: Where advertising is shown, Google and its advertising partners may set and read cookies to serve, personalise and measure ads — including ads based on your previous visits to this or other websites. See the section below for how to opt out.
Advertising and Analytics Cookies in Detail
Two things are worth being specific about, because they work differently.
- Consent regions. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, advertising and analytics storage default to denied. No advertising or analytics cookies are written unless and until you consent, and you can change or withdraw consent at any time.
- Opting out of personalised ads. Anywhere in the world, you can turn off ad personalisation in Google My Ad Center or Google Ads Settings. You will still see ads; they just will not be based on your activity.
- Opting out of third-party vendors. Many advertising vendors can be opted out of in one place at aboutads.info, optout.networkadvertising.org or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
- How Google uses the data. Explained in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your Choices Regarding Cookies
You can also accept or decline cookies in your browser. Most browsers accept them automatically, but every major browser lets you block or delete them. Blocking all cookies will break some features — saved favourites and recently used tools are stored on your own device and rely on local storage.
